I Am Becoming Everything I Was Meant to Be
I was nominated for two Inspiring Women Awards in my county —
Mentorship Excellence and Champion of Change.
And to my surprise…
I won the Mentorship Excellence Award.
It was more than just an honor.
It was a divine reminder — a moment of clarity that came exactly when I needed it.
Because truthfully, I’ve been deep in the doing — parenting, building, leading, supporting.
And sometimes, when you’re in the thick of it, it’s easy to forget why you started.
But this recognition reminded me:
I’ve been walking in my purpose — even on the days it didn’t feel like it.
And the part that touches me the most?
I still don’t know who nominated me.
That tells me my work is resonating beyond what I can see.
That I’m inspiring women (and men) I haven’t even met — just by being who I am.
I needed that reminder.
I want to share a truth that’s been on my heart lately.
Something I’ve never written down before.
Several years ago, I overheard my boss say about me:
“She’s just a bookkeeper.”
Just. A. Bookkeeper.
He had no idea what I was really holding.
But I did.
So I tucked that comment away — and I grew.
I evolved. I learned. I rebuilt my confidence.
And while I did that inner work, I helped everyone around me rise too.
I spent my days:
• Interviewing and onboarding hundreds of people
• Building and leading teams
• Mentoring managers
• Creating workflows, systems, and policies that allowed companies to scale
• Coaching employees into alignment with their own paths
I stayed late. I arrived early.
I was the one people leaned on when things fell apart.
And yes — I sacrificed time with my kids and myself, because deep down I was trying to prove I wasn’t just anything.
What I didn’t realize at the time is…
I was becoming everything I was always meant to be.
I was born to lead, to structure, to protect and build.
To create order from chaos — not by controlling, but by being a grounded, strategic presence.
I help others find clarity by holding space with strength, wisdom, and compassion.
I am here to lead people home to themselves — through truth, balance, and deep transformation.
My story is not perfect, but it’s always been honest.
And that honesty is what allows me to guide others through their own.
I was meant to teach, advise, consult, and guide —
to lead with wisdom,
speak truth with clarity,
and restore balance — for myself, my family, and the world.
This isn’t just what I do.
It’s who I am.
This award isn’t just a recognition of what I’ve done — it’s a reflection of who I’ve become.
And a reminder that leadership isn’t about titles.
It’s about impact.
Integrity.
And the willingness to keep showing up.
So if you’ve ever felt overlooked, underestimated, or boxed in — let this be your sign:
You are not “just” anything.
You are becoming everything you were made to be.
And one more thing…
I’m not here to tell you to just “look on the bright side.”
Because some days, the bright side doesn’t show up on time.
Some days, it’s hidden behind exhaustion or self-doubt or a to-do list that won’t quit.
But this week, I’ve been reminding myself to notice the quiet things holding me up:
The friend who checked in.
The tiny moment of peace.
The words that finally came out right.
The way my work still showed up for me, even when I didn’t feel like I had much to give.
This season has been heavy.
And no, I’m not ignoring the hard parts — but I am choosing to look for what’s steady underneath it all.
Not pretending I’m fine. Just… continuing anyway.
Writing the next paragraph. Sending the text. Holding space. Showing up — gently, imperfectly, but still.
Here’s what I keep coming back to:
Our stories matter — especially the ones that are messy, unfinished, still unfolding.
They remind someone else they’re not alone.
They create connection in a world that’s constantly pulling us apart.
They anchor us back into ourselves, and back into each other.
So even when we can’t see the full impact…
Even when it feels small or quiet or invisible…
It still matters.
You still matter.
And we’re still in this together.
XO,
Laura
